READ Interface

The READ Interface encompasses the READ window and its component panes.  The READ window comprises a fixed position Utility Panel on the left-hand side and as many as three configurable VE panels.  The VE panels have a Main Pane and a selectively displayed Properties Pane.  The READ Interface encompasses the following constituent features:

Utility Panel Feature

The Utility Panel feature is fixed on the left-hand side of the READ Window aggregates access to a range of features.  (User Settings, Search, Catalog, Resources, Edit Tools, View Tools and Layout).  The User Settings, Search Catalog, Browse Catalog, Resources and Layout features are consistently presented, whilst the tools accessible from the Edit Tools and View Tools features are context sensitive to the VE panel selected.

User Settings Feature

The User Settings feature provides access to login and password functions and access to the Attribution and Users Components.

Search Catalog Feature

Refer to Search Catalog feature as a constituent of the Catalog VE feature.

Browse Catalog Feature

Refer to Browse Catalog feature as a constituent of the Catalog VE feature.

Resources Feature

The Resources feature supports the aggregation of all resources related to a selected text.  Access is provided to all published and research editions of the text created with the Editing and Clone features.  Access is provided to images uploaded to the text with the Image Import Component.  Access is provided to bibliographic references to the text.

Edit Tools Feature

The Edit Tools feature provides access to a suite of editing tools in context to the selected VE panel.

View Tools Feature

The View Tools feature provides access to a suite of editing tools in context to the selected VE panel.

Layout Feature

The Layout feature supports selection of range of two and three panel layouts for display of VE panels.

Viewer/Editor Panel Feature

The Viewer/Editor Panel feature supports loading of a particular VE into a panel.  The Catalog VE, Edition VE, Glossary VE, Image VE, Paleography VE and Structure VE are both viewers and editors whilst Chāyā V, Translation V and Word List V are viewer only.

Main Pane Feature

The Catalog VE, Edition VE, Glossary VE, Image VE, Paleography VE, Structure VE, Chāyā V, Translation V and Word List V each load into the main pane of a panel.

Properties Pane Feature

The Catalog VE, Edition VE, Glossary VE, Paleography VE, Structure VE each support a Properties Pane feature.
