Chāyā Viewer

The Chāyā V supports the display of Chāyā type annotations applied using the Annotation Component to hierarchical sequences developed using the Structure Builder feature.  The Chāyā V supports the concatenation of these annotations and displays them within the defined structure.  Annotations applied at lower levels of the structure are ‘shaded’ by those applied at higher levels.  The Chāyā V supports the display of Chāyā annotations from multiple parallel structures.  Chāyā annotations are synchronized with the corresponding sequence(s) in the Edition VE and with corresponding sequence(s) in the Translation V.

Edition Viewer/Editor (VE)

The Edition VE supports the development and maintenance of a hybrid (encompassing both diplomatic and reconstructed) rendition of a text.  Lines of text may be developed and edited with conventional word processing gestures supported by character, syllable, sandhi and text critical mark-up validation.  Alternatively, transliteration text may be imported and validated.  The edition can be viewed in a variety of renditions and formats.  An edition may be cloned to support collaborative research.  The Edition VE encompasses the following constituent features:

  • Create Edition
  • Edition Attributes
  • Create Transliteration
  • Editing
  • Segment Linker
  • Text critical mark-up
  • Sandhi
  • Rendition
  • Selection
  • Format
  • Clone
  • Text Import
  • Parser Utility

The Edition VE is augmented by an Properties Component constituent, the Edition Properties feature.

Glossary Viewer/Editor (VE)

The Glossary VE supports the development of a comprehensive glossary of an edition of a text.  Initially based upon the Word List V, lemma are specified and attested forms identified and inflected.  Compound analysis may be undertaken, linkages between lemma implemented and annotations applied to both lemma and attested forms.  The Glossary VE encompasses the following constituent features:

  • Lemma Attributes
  • Lemma Linker
  • Attested Form Linker
  • Inflection Attributes
  • Compound Analysis

The Glossary VE is augmented by an Properties Component, the Glossary Properties feature.

Image Import Component

The Image Import Component supports the upload of an image, its identification with a text, the generation of an image thumbnail and the nomination of an image as a baseline image.  The Users Component encompasses the following constituent features:

  • Import
  • Baseline

Image Viewer/Editor (VE)

The Image VE supports the inspection of an image, the segmentation of signs on that image, the ordering of those segments and the linking of those ordered segments to syllables exposed in the Edition VE.  The Image VE encompasses the following constituent features:

  • Navigation
  • Adjustment
  • Segmentation
  • Ordering
  • Syllable Linker

Palaeography Viewer/Editor (VE)

The Paleography VE supports the development of a comprehensive palaeographic report of an edition of a text.  Image segments are tagged with palaeographic properties.  Image segments may be exported as individual graphic files.  The Paleography VE encompasses the following constituent features:

  • Paleography Report
  • Paleography Tag
  • Image Segment Export

Properties Component

The Properties Component supports the display of the attributes and constituents of the selected entity.  The Properties Component is accessed from Utility Panel when the Edition VE, Glossary VE or Structure VE pane is selected.  The Properties Component pane provides both a conventional user interface and a tabbed record interface.  The Properties Component aggregates access to features in context to its support for the Edition VE, Glossary VE or Structure VE.  The capacity to access the Attributes, Annotations and Tag Components is common to each instantiation of the Properties Component.  The Edition VE and Glossary VE also include access to specialized features.

  • Glossary Properties
  • Structure Properties
  • Catalog Properties

READ Interface

The READ Interface encompasses the READ window and its component panes.  The READ window comprises a fixed position Utility Panel on the left-hand side and as many as three configurable VE panels.  The VE panels have a Main Pane and a selectively displayed Properties Pane.  The READ Interface encompasses the following constituent features:

  • Utility Panel
  • User Settings
  • Search Catalog
  • Browse Catalog
  • Resources
  • Edit Tools
  • View Tools
  • Layout
  • Viewer/Editor Panel
  • Main Pane
  • Properties Pane

  • Structure Builder
  • Constituent Linker
  • Structure Attributes

The Structure VE is augmented by an Properties Component constituent, the Structure Properties feature.
