The Annotation Component supports the implementation and display of a range annotation types within the Edition VE, Glossary VE and Structure VE. The Annotation Component encompasses the following constituent features:
- Edition Annotation
- Catalog Annotation
- Glossary Annotation
- Structure Annotation

Edition Annotation Feature
The Edition Annotation feature supports the creation of a range of annotation types linked to syllables, words, compounds, lines or other structural sequences. There is significant overlap with the Structure Annotation feature. Annotations apply user provided text which is displayed within the Edition Properties feature. Footnote types also display a superscript in the edition main pane with hover text and are generated as footnotes with the Edition Publishing feature. Translation and Chāyā annotation types are displayed in separate panes within the Translation V and Chāyā V. Workflow annotation types (Question, Comment, Issue, ToDo, Done, Obsolete) are displayed only in the Edition Properties feature.
Catalog Annotation Feature
The Catalog Annotation feature supports the creation of a range of annotation types linked to texts. There is significant overlap with the Edition Annotation feature. Annotations apply user provided text which is displayed within the Catalog Properties feature. Workflow annotation types (Question, Comment, Issue, ToDo, Done, Obsolete) are displayed in the Catalog Properties feature.
Glossary Annotation Feature
The Glossary Annotation feature supports the application of specialized annotations to both lemma and attested forms. Annotations apply user provided text which is displayed within Glossary VE main pane, within the Glossary Properties feature, and exported with the Glossary Publishing feature.
Structure Annotation Feature
The Structure Annotation feature supports the creation of a range of annotation types linked to structural sequences or constituent words or compounds. There is significant overlap with the Edition Annotation feature. Annotations apply user provided text which is displayed within the Structure Properties feature. Footnote types also display a superscript in the edition main pane with hover text and are generated as footnotes with the Edition Publishing feature. Translation and Chāyā annotation types are displayed in separate panes within the Translation V and Chāyā V.
